My '73 Javelin has this hole in the front panel overlay, just above the radio tuning knob.  I assumed it was something a previous owner had drilled, but I have two plastic subpanels that I've bought through the years and they both have a hole that matches the location of the hole in this overlay.  My '72 doesn't have it, not in the overlay anyway.

Can anyone tell me what this is for?

Both my late models 71 and 73 had no hole. Must be for AM/FM trim adjustment, but of the many overlays I have seen had no hole.

If concerned wood filling putty and reddish oak polish stain to hide any noticable shadow.

Well, mystery solved... sort of.  There's a hole in the radio case in that exact location... not a hack but obviously came from the factory that way.  What does it do?  I have no idea.  Antenna trim adjustment makes as much sense as anything, but Owner's Manual and TSM don't mention it, and none of the pictures of instrument panels I've seen in factory literature have that hole in the panel.  Beats me.
