No! Do not use a Hornet regulator on a '66. It will not be the same voltage. The correct ones are out there. A '66 should have a square plug with 2 female bullet terminals and 2 male bullet terminals. Same regulator used '66-68. Edited by ramblinrev - Jun/22/2022 at 9:53pm |

Will a 4 wire voltage regulator out of a 68 Hornet work on my 199 engine. The 199 is supposed to use a 3 wire regulator: a black, a green & a orange wire. Having a hard time finding one. Today I picked up a Hornet regulator. It's got a black, a green, and a red wire & a yellow wire.
Can I use this regulator & if yes, which wire to use; the red wire or the yellow wire?
