    Posted: Jun/19/2022 at 9:54am
When I pulled the tilit column out of the 69 AMX last week for repaint, I noted a piece that was dangling just within the bottom of the lower "bowl".

Can someone tell me what this is?  And how hard it will be to put back in? :)

Thanks.

Steve

Part of the turn signal switch.  Easy fix. You need to pull the steering wheel and get a tool for removing the lock ring. My local O'Reillys had the tool in stock for around $15.. May as well replace the whole switch and nylon cam while you're there as they get brittle and break.

You can see your part in this picture of the switch:

There are variations of this switch, so this may not be the exact one you need, but yours will be similar.

Thanks! At least it’s not part of the tilt mechanism :)
Thought it looked familiar.

I already have the wheel off for column painting so
It won’t be a big deal to pull the signal switch out.

It’s original so good time to replace it.

Thanks!

Steve

I believe that’s the detent spring for the emergency flasher button.
Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.
