How do you connect it to the dash?
Do you put the spring on the switch first, then the retaining ring and the clip the chrome piece on? The FSM does not really show you.

68 Javelin in your sig?
On a 68 American, you put the chrome bezel in the dash, aligned correctly. Eyeball the switch and bezel, as the bayonet pins on the switch must fall into the slots on the bezel. From behind, put spring over the ignition switch, and guide it into the bezel. You'll have to hold the bezel in place of course. Press the switch, compressing the spring, until it contacts the bezel. You will ahve to rotate the switch slightly CW and CCW to feel the pins fall in the slot. This will want to push the bezel out of the panel until the pins fall into their slots. Then turn the switch the 5 degrees or whatever to lock the bayonet. (Eyeball it first so you know if it's CW or CCW, I forget). You could probably do it in reverse, eg. press the switch in so that the bayonet pins are "too far", eyeball the bezel slots, insert bezel into the panel, align it, and feel it all together. Dunno Javs though. Happy thanksgiving! Everyone's nodded off from overeating... lol. |
