There should be two two 1" wide by... 6? inches long flat hard plastic guides with prongs that snap into the sheet metal, that are the guides the sliding door rides on. If those are missing the system won't work, the door will rattle. No reason for them not to be there other than 9000 owners in the last 50 years of mysterious car work.

This is from memory and 25 years old.  The straight piece (about 4") goes toward the passenger compartment on the sheet metal behind the vent panel in a plastic channel that has a push-in type snap holder and keeps the slider from rattling when open.

I looked at the kick panels I have on the shelf.  All of them just have the bent piece as shown in the picture.  I did my AMX in 2007, I believe there were more pieces, but I can't remember where they attached.

They go on the plastic panel, around the outside of the vent.  About the same shape as the sliding vent door.   I seem to remember an edge or groove they sit in.  I'll look at the kick panels I have this evening if no one else replies.

I just purchased a kick panel vent gasket set for my 1969 Javelin.  I am not sure where or how to install the gaskets.  The original gaskets have either fallen off or disintegrated.  There is a 4" straight piece, a 7" piece with a slight bend and the squarish piece that goes around the vent opening.  Does anyone know where the straight pieces go?  Do the gaskets attach to the metal body of the car or to the plastic kick panel?  Any help or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
