Any pictures of how you modified the old cam as a reamer? Dan Curtis has posted AZ Restorations uses an old camshaft with fine media blasted main journals and some oil to hone in the bearings said they always work good. There have been posts here about the old cam hone not being the best way to go this is all new to me I just want to get it right the first time. What I am seeing might be from the shop scraping in the new bearings and some sort of "handling marks" not the way it should look. I have read many posts about 401 oiling issues and taken notice. I have spent a lot on this engine I don't want to take chances the better everything looks and goes together the better I will feel when it's ready to fire up.

Here is a couple pics. I use a cutoff wheel on a die grinder to make the cuts. The trick here is to make the cuts not only diagonal but also at an angle to the surface so one edge is raised and the opposite side is near level to the bearing surface. I use a small file on the level side to ensure it is lower than the scraping side and dress the cutter side of the cut to remove any sharp points. It works for me

I can see how that would work.

Before installing a cam in an engine, check it for straightness.

A bent cam won't turn freely in the bearings and will give you lots of grief until you find out it's bent.

Check it in true V-blocks and a dial indicator or chuck it between centers in a lathe.
