If the suction and discharge ports are on the wrong side of the York compressor head, can the compressor head be removed and turned 180° to place the ports in the correct position for the AC lines?
If no, what does it take to change the discharge port fitting to the other side of the compressor body? Thank you Walt

if i remember right you can just rotate the head 180 degrees and use it as long as your fittings are going to line up. i also remember that oreilly auto parts sells the head only and you can get it in either configuration.

Moved to HVAC area because it's more of an HVAC (AC) question than restoration.
Restoration would be "what side is the discharge port on".........

No it can't. The head and valve plate have dowels to line them up only one way.
You might be able to drill the head and valve plate or remove the dowels. Both have some risk. I would look into it on a junk compressor first before taking apart and possibly ruining a good compressor, if I were you. You can get Yorks in different head configurations too. That is the easier, though more expensive route.
