Looking to replace my worn out clutch style limited slip diff with an Eaton truetrac gear style. I want to do burnouts and have both wheels engage. I don’t want posi because I want to drive the car along county roads. Has anyone used this setup? I’m planning on running 3.54 gears

posi is the same as limited slip, it's the term chevy used and seems all limited slips are now somehow posi...
ford is traction loc amc is twin grip jaguar is power loc chevy is posi traction and on and on...all limited slip i believe what you are not wanting is a mini or full spool where both rear tires spin at the same rate all the time, making it hard on the tires to turn. a stock rebuilt twin grip should be fine for tire roasting, was in my 71 javelin many moons ago.

Truetrac is definitely the way to go, about the only time a clutch type unit might be superior is in the racetrack (road course) if you are doing a lot of curb hopping.
Local diff shop here won't even touch clutch type LSDs anymore because the truetrac is far superior for most applications. You will have no trouble smoking both tires at the same time. |

X2! I've been running one in my 9" and there's no down side to it IMO.

This has been discussed before here, but the trutrac is the safest LSD choice for the street.

I guess I am also a bit confused on the terminology. Clutch type to me is a stock LSD, is it not? What AMC referred to as a twin grip? I would have thought this is the least aggressive, most friendly to "driving a country road" type option. Have I missed something?
I currently have the stock 390 limited slip factory differential, which is a clutch pack limited slip diff. I used to run an old school Group 19 Detroit Locker and while I did not mind it, I will be the first to admit that it was a bit rough. Both were used with 4.10 gears and either provided decent traction. The locker seemed just a bit better, but for an overall driver the stock diff seemed more reasonable. Chris
