Now that I am officially an Edelbrock UR-18 intake manifold owner I need to find a set of carbs to go on it. Who has a UR-18? I need to run Dominators to make it look correct on my Wally Booth Hornet replica. My guess is that it would run better on 750 cfm Dominators than the 1050 Dominators they used during the AMC Pro Stock era, but maybe 1050's are the way to go. So if you have real experience or own a setup please post a comment. I am sure there has to be a few guys on here that have raced or are still racing with a tunnel ram. I had to repost the photos with an AR valve cover in place. They just look so good with the intake.

what I started to do was I bought the base that went from the dominator bolt pattern to a 4150 carburetor. When I mocked it up to see if it would fit under my super stock hood scoop I would of had to get creative to make it fit so that is when I went with efi the throttle bodies are shorter and it still looks mean like a tunnel ram should it should be done later this summer so we will see if it was worth it.

Not racing this car but for the street I went with 2 Edelbrock AVS 500 carbs to retain velocity with 2.08 valves and large ported heads on a built 401 with a 240/110 mechanical cam. I used 2 Offy 1" adapters turned upside down and countersunk the bolts to adapt the 4150 style carbs to the Dominator pattern as i did not want to drill the top. With 1000 cfm on tap I still have instant startup and throttle response with these carbs that required very little tuning. I will also add I chose these carbs to fit under my Rebel Machine hood scoop which they clear by an inch or so. Enjoy the best AMC intake manifold ever built!!! |

I ran two 750 dominators for 25 years, then modified them two years ago to 1050s, they both run well.
I prefer the 1050 2 circuit cars, mine are modified from there to have a jet in the transfer slot.

I ran Holley 660 center shooters on a UR18 in the mid 70's. High 6's, 106.10 mph in the 1/8th. 390 Gremlin built per AMC performance manual specs. Garage modified very crude suspension, sub frames tied, 5.13 Dana 60, homemade ladder bars after it bent the Lakewoods all to heck.
8966 carbs are listed for 1 x 4. Why did you us them over a 9375 which is listed as 2 x 4 carbs. What car is this engine in?
Tom
