Looking for ring and pinion set - ratio 3.54 to suit model 20 axle.
Would prefer AMC original gears if possible.
Can swap 2.87 or 3.15 ratios if that suits.
This thread has been quiet for a while hopefully someone might have a lead.
Thanks

Have a look in Jeep land, that’s where I found my 3.54’s, not something that found its way into cars in Aussie.

Probably just as easy to order new ex US.

I’m going to pull mine out at some stage, I want to go to 3.15 to make it a bit more highway friendly, 3.54 would be great with an overdrive transmission.

PS: by Jeep land, I mean somewhere like FSJ Australia on Facebook.

Boy, looking at that under hood photo, that’s an awful lot of stuff on the RH side of the engine bay.

I don't know of anyone in WA dealing in second hand parts.
I have bought parts from WA I found on Gumtree.

Relatively new on the scene myself.
Have found the AMC Forum best by far for information and good for parts I can't find in Australia.
In Australia, Steve Fripp at Rambler Spares is best I know of.
Join the AMC Rambler Club of Australia if you didn't already.

Enjoy your 73 Rambler Hornet. Wife and I  bought one had been off the road for some time.
Took a while to get it on the road, but great vehicle. Better than a modern car any day.

Exactly right. Pulling number 2 and number 8 spark plugs on the RH side is a bit of a mission.
Neither AMC nor Australian Motor Industries chose to shift the engine mounts to the left with the Right hand conversion.
The AMX in the pic has to stay original but I thought about it for our USA 68 390.
Figured if I did move the engine over I should also shift the radiator mounting points and alter the transmission crossmember.
Then do you go as far as putting the short side of the rear axle housing on the other side as well.
Put the idea in the too hard basket. Works how it is and I prefer to be out driving.
