I have used the search function here and also google but have not found the answer. The question: how much does a bare 1969 AMX shell weigh? Completely stripped of every part. All I can find is shipping weight and curb weight. Anyone know or ever weigh one? Thanks!

I have never weighed one, but I have an old car magazine somewhere in my stash of a couple hundred, that gave the weight when the car was first introduced. I remember that it was 112 pounds less than the Javelin. I'm thinking it was somewhere around 7-800 pounds. I will see if I can find the magazine tomorrow. I remember that I posted those weights from the magazine on here some time in the past, but it's been a couple of years or more. How to search for that post, I don't know.

Sonic Silver- if you can't find your post and want to try and find the article, I think this was in a 67-8 Car Life magazine when the AMX was introduced.  Lots of good stats in that same article.

I know what the magazine cover looks like, and it was written near the top of the left hand page. I can see it in my mind, just like I can see the 112 pound difference between Jav and AMX written on the page. I think I know the weight number, but am afraid to give wrong info. Going to look for it later after my wife gets home. I think I know what the cover looks like. My magazines are in a metal building with my cars, not at home.

I found the magazine. It is Sports Car Graphic March 1968. I had this magazine at home. The cover looks like I thought with a red AMX on cover. The info is at the top of the left hand page. AMX "bare metal weight" is 755 pounds, and Javelin is 867 pounds. 290 engine weight is 546 pounds, 343 is 556 pounds, and 390 is 579 pounds...all "without starter, which adds 17 pounds."
