Are the Javelin and Amx door glass the same (68 - 70) would like to find better clear door glass for my 70. Heard aftermarket glass doesn't fit well. Got mine down from the rafters and its got some bad scratches.

What you have said about aftermarket is true. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Don't bother trying to polish out scratches. It doesn't work well at all.

I believe the AMX glass is different from Javelin. Shape of the vertical edge, if I recall correctly.

The roof line is different between the AMX and Jav. The door glass is unique to each model. Bob tufcj

Put a wanted ad below for clear AMX glass. There's a very slight difference between the years, but it doesn't impact fit.

The glass doesn't intercahnge between a Javelin and AMX. The rear window edge is cut at a different angle as the 1/4 glass is different on each. I tried the repro glass in my 70 and it was terrible. Others MUST have had decent results because the vendor said "you're the first I've heard of this".....lol

Unfortunately, the "you're the first..." has been the standard explanation for decades from the AMC vendors when something they sell is junk. I hate that because we all know it's not true, unless you bought the part the first day it was introduced. I wish they'd just say, "sorry, that's the best we can get, I'll refund your $ if you're not happy." To be fair, any time I had a part that I wasn't satisfied with, I returned it (my return shipping $) and got a refund. Not great, but you have to be realistic if you want AMC reproduction parts. If not, buy a new Mustang, Camaro, Challenger. |
