Cool model, but did they accurately replicate the Porsche flywheel? Wink

Thanks for the link!

The models describe it as a ‘concept car’,  but they built 5 or 6 running cars, so maybe my definition of a concept car is a bit different. To me, a concept car is a one-off and may or may not have a power train or be anything more than a clay model, so I would consider the AMX/3 an extremely low volume hand built production car.

The Porsche flywheel makes it a true sports car, lol.

Hahahaha, that's funny guys. Porsche flywheel, just for the replicas. This model is a replica of the number two car. Originally red, it was the Monza high speed test car and I had the pleasure of speaking with two of the previous owners. It's a little sad to me that it is no longer the original red, but the color is beautiful and it did win it's class at Pebble Beach. So it's a good choice for a replica model. Here is a link to Curt Hall's website where you can find the most detailed and accurate information on these cars. Each car was unique and there are seven steel AMX'3's. Plus the fiberglass display body I have.

Also, here is a YouTube video where Curt and I discuss his website.

Who's the best with AMC engines these days?

In California, I have no idea. The Forum's own Rick Jones (SC397) in Michigan is one of the "best", at least that I know of.  More out your way, Dan Curtis of AZ Arizona AMC Restorations.

In San Diego....Tim Klinefelter is the best AMC engine builder.  Knows more about AMCs than just about anyone. I know Tom knows him.....we were all at his house together many years ago.
