My 63 American 440 Tech Service Manual cover has the AMC round, red and blue circles with capital AM script in the center. When did AMC change their logo to the red white and blue logos? Is there a history of the changes available?

That may have changed in 1970.

I know this is an old post, but AmeriMan is correct. I did a little digging into this, and while I can't share pictures yet, here's a breakdown of the logo change...on the TSMs. I'm including links to some pictures I saved on my Google Drive if you would like to see the examples. I don't know if the logos on the TSMs reflect official logo changes or not, but this is what I could find by doing Google Image searches.
1963 TSM - as Johnny mentioned, here is the round, red, white, & blue logo: https://drive.google.com//d/1mJ1OQK4zFsn2AQKHIB_cT6TfpgE7SY4C/view?usp=sharing - https://drive.google.com//d/1mJ1OQK4zFsn2AQKHIB_cT6TfpgE7SY4C/view?usp=sharing 1967 TSM - The cover is printed in two-color blue and yellow, but the square script AM logo is used. https://drive.google.com//d/17tZj6yNdcfUR-ykISZfgLkErYEEpM_NP/view?usp=sharing - https://drive.google.com//d/17tZj6yNdcfUR-ykISZfgLkErYEEpM_NP/view?usp=sharing 1970 TSM - First TSM instance of the stylized red, white, and blue triangle-triangle-rectangle logo. https://drive.google.com//d/1m2S98Rp2bFjAKIbkjO9_yKOSj_csyl61/view?usp=sharing - https://drive.google.com//d/1m2S98Rp2bFjAKIbkjO9_yKOSj_csyl61/view?usp=sharing By the way, if any of you know how to get hyperlinks to appear as clickable links rather than text-only strings, I would love to know how you do it in the forum interface. kinda sorta related, some years ago I was looking into making custom graphics, and stumbled on some interesting typography stuff. |

enclose them in BBcode... many forums use it, it's a markup language, like HTML. If you R)eply to this or any message, you'll see the QUOTE BBcode. Use the one for URL, below, I'm typing ( and ) instead of [ and ] so that you can see it... (URL)http://www.theAMCforum.com(/URL) change parens to square brackets. |

Tom, THANK YOU for that. It's been driving me nuts. I can write HTML code, so I figured it was something like that. And now..I'm seeing the BBcodes box below is hyperlinked and has all the info I would have needed. Many thanks for just giving me the info without pointing out that I'm a dumb-butt. Will attempt to keep dumb-buttness to a minimum in the future. :)

Ugh...I know this is not the place for this, but I'm still not getting the URL tag to work. I understand the syntax, I can bbcode all the other text modifications successfully, and I've tried every conceivable variable: WYSIWYG, no-WYSIWYG, adblock off, Safari vs. Chrome, Full Reply Editor...nothing seems to make a difference. Every time I try to post a URL, it always posts as http://theamcforum.com - http://theamcforum.com instead of a live URL. The syntax I'm using is
(URL)http://theamcforum.com(/URL) -- I'm using brackets, not parentheses...parentheses used here for the example. I will happily delete this post if somebody can tell me where the correct place to post it is. Or if somebody can tell me what I'm doing wrong if in fact I am. Basically I'm hoping a moderator sees this and can help me out. |

For what it's worth, my very early 1970 Javelin had the AM script emblem below the rear window as opposed to the red, white and blue flag.

When I write a post containing a link, I use the add link button in the create post window...
BUT... then I have to click in the address box, arrow over to the very beginning of the link, and DELETE the "http://" or whatever it is at the front of the link... as the forum create post insert link box adds that back in apparently, and one must use the drop-down to select to correct "prefix" for the specific link being inserted be it "http://" or "https://" or whatever it is...

The logo change was phased in during the 1970 model year. Early cars, ie before the strike in November 69, had the script on things like the plaque below the window and other spots. Tune up spec stickers and other underhood stuff also changed fairly quickly. Other stuff was phases in over the year as stocks of older scripted parts and identification were used up.
