So I inherited a 401 motor that was being built for drag racing. Stock 401 bottom end dolled up with ARP, Keith Black 392 pistons 30 over and a Crower 45315 level 4 cam. My end goal is a hot street motor for AutoX use. My issue now is that I’m coming up to the heads and if I stay with stock iron or Indy SR’s while keeping the compression ratio right at 10.5. Trying to reach 450-500 HP with a 7k redline. Plus staying with stock iron would allow a little more fun in the intake department… possibly dual Holley snipers on an Offy 5919.

I don’t think you will need the Indy’s for 450-500 HP, just some nicely ported Iron heads.

Both can hit your goals
If you go aluminum I would go with Edelbrock for a street engine |

Stock rods with ARP bolts and keith black pistons gonna hold up at 7000 RPM?
Plan on some oil drainback mods as well if you will be running high RPM and generating high G-forces. The oil tends to collect in the heads. |

1970 AMX, one step forward, one step back. Both steps cost time and money.

Either get ported iron or ported Edelbrocks from John Rossello (jcisworthy) @ RBJ Racing
IMO you won't be seeing an easy 500hp with a dual plane. I would go with the new Edelbrock Victor JR or a ported Torker intake manifold if I were you

Either it’s going to be the Indy’s or the Irons. My jobs parent company is Holley and you get dragged pretty hard for having Eddie parts
