CARnivore - it is a 67 427, but not a tri-power. (750cfm Edelbrock) Don't really know what I would do if it have any more power than it does! The guy that's going to rebuild the 360 for the AMX, built the 427 that's in the Vette last year. It's just way to scary with power and speed!
When I get the 360 to my builder he will let me know what he thinks we should do after he looks it over. It's not yet been bored, but will probably need it. So, we will go from there. We haven't talked compression yet, but he knows I want a driver-so it won't be built like the 427. That think doesn't even wake up until 3000rpm. I wasn't planning on starting a build thread-unless I'm required to. This project is not anything new to you guys. But I'll let you know how things go and what my builder is doing with the 360 and post pics as I make progress. |

I'm pulling up all of the floor insulation to see how much metal work I need to do and in the liftback area under the insulation was this ignition key, slightly stuck to the floor. Now I know I didn't put that key there and I've owned this car since I drove it off the lot (although it was my parents dealership).
Was this a factory thing? This key was under the insulation, not just under the carpet. |

Wondering if maybe when they installed the spoiler at the factory they took the key from the hatch lock and threw it under the insulation since the spoiler covers the lock? BTW nice Vette and I used to have an old Stingray too. Heres a pic of my project which will be a 360/998 car as well and have owned since new. I painted it 1978 Concord AMX Quicksilver to be different |

That looks really nice!
Fortunately for me, mine is not going to be a full restoration. I'm not a painter and my body working skills should be just good enough to take care of the areas I know of ---- so far. I removed the rear seats and the passenger seat today so I can pull up the carpet and insulation to finish my evaluation of the metal work needed on the floor. Should know more tomorrow about that. What fuel tank did you use? I can't seem to locate a new one anywhere. I know Tanks, Inc. will make one for me but wasn't planning on that and don't want to use the original one. Also, most of the matting and insulation is ok. Should I reuse it or do you recommend replacing it with a Dynamat type insulation? Thanks. Vette is fun, for sure, but it's a 4 speed and as I get older I'm enjoy driving automatics. Guess I am getting older!

No that is a Alumi-Tech radiator actually for a Javelin application. I will probably have to space it towards the motor to clear the hood as the flanges are reversed from the normal Spirit location

It's a great thread so far. So engine updates would be great. Just so you know... If you start posting regular updates for the rest of the car... Paint body... Suspension... Brakes...interior... The moderators might move your post to the Project Section. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Thanks. I will post updates on engine and tranny rebuild and install. I'm hopeful I will be able to continue pulling the 360 out next week - still too wet here. The rest of the AMX (hopefully) will be more of a "revival". As mentioned, I will need to do some metal work and replace some of the expected stuff related to fuel and brakes, but other than cleaning the car up (and there's a lot of that to do), it shouldn't look any differently than it does now.
