Installing an OEM rear spare tire mount on a 1978 Golden Eagle CJ5. Does anyone have a photo of how AMC mounted to the body? Hopefully it's not metal to metal like the side mount on my '75.

Yes they just bolted to the body. The top bolts were above fender wells inside they had a bracket that bolted to fender well to help stress on rear body. Were ok with stock 10-15 tracker tire on but any thing bigger would tear loose. We had customer with a 79 cj7 that we braced in back side to reinforce body. That was with 35 12.50 tire and worked good. I know the new mounts go from the frame now.
