My 727 in my73 Javelin AMX has been leaking a long time.....but it seems to leak after it sits for a bit.....after being in storage for a year and a half I've been driving it for a while and hasn't leaked at all....I checked level and it's down 1 1/4 quarts...the car shifts great......is this it's happy place where it wants to be?...I'm almost tempted not to add any more fluid......anyone else have an issue like this?

Are you checking the level hot or cold, and while in neutral? Being a wee low cold is expected. Hot should be within the marks on the stick.

Likely leaking due to torque converter drainback......... or at least that's a possibility.

Always check these transmissions engine running, in NEUTRAL, transmission warmed up. Don't run it low, you can get foaming or worse.

This sort of thing often happens when the shifter shaft seal is faulty.

The oil level in a torque flite is lowest while it's running. It rises after the engine is shut off and continues to very slowly rise over the next few days or even weeks as the hydraulic systems in the transmission (mainly the converter) drain into the pan.

The shifter seal is up pretty high, so it won;t often leak while running or perhaps even for a few days after being shut off, but then the level comes up high enough to leak.

I would never operate the transmission below the minimum mark on the dipstick.
