    Posted: May/23/2022 at 7:46pm
Hello,
I have a 1972 Javelin SST. Replacing all front bushings.
installing strut rods and noticed manual shows a triangular bushing or plate that is placed between stut rod and lower control arm.
I don't remember one being there when I disassemble it and cannot find one in the pan where I placed the old parts when I took it apart.
Is anyone familiar with this.  the manual shows it in a diagram but makes no mention of it in the re-move/ replace instructions.
Is it something that is absolutely necessary?

Thanks,
Ron

Those are the steering stops and there should absolutely be one on each side of the car.

Hello again,
I just talked to Kennedy American.
They said that in 72 some cars did have that steering stop, but on some the strut rod was extended and had a bit of an angle.
So I'm guessing mine has the longer strut rod since its end is angled.
I'm pretty sure everything is original on this car . So I'll cross my fingers and hope.

Ron

just saw the photo.
I'm sure I didn't remove anything like that.
What's it made of.  Looks like some kind of fiber from the photo.

They are steel with serations to grab against the flat of the lower control arm.

Until you get 30 points total, you will be kept from using the online photo tool.

Personally, when I post more than one item that is not for reference, I use imgbb.com It is fast and allows quick links for both bb, hyper link, and hosted links to their site all in one pull down menu, when uploading an image, or multiples at once. No account needed, but is nice to have, if making an online album, that constantly changes.

Hello,
I saw in the "Author" column that you're from California.
Although I haven't done a VIN search, I think my car was originally a California car.
It has the red engine and a California Emissions sticker.
Not sure that it means a lot but I tell everyone that it makes my Javelin a little more special.
