My 72 Javelin, which I've had for a couple of months, has a bunch of leaves and twigs under the cowl vent. I can't figure out how to get into that space to clean it out. The only thing I can think of is to remove the windshield wiper motor. Surely there has to be a better way. Does anyone know of one?

Oh, that is unfortunate. I might try to blow it out with compressed air and/or try and find a vacuum attachment that will fit through the vents. Or maybe I can find somebody who has a rotisserie and strap the car to that, turn it upside down, and shake it till all the junk falls out.

Yup...
My engine is out so yay me. You'll also benefit from a double jointed 10 year old with a scrubby sponge. Maybe put a piece of foam over top of the motor and a piece of ply on top to lay on. My grandson will be getting paid handsomely to sand the wiper cavety so I can shoot it soon.... oh, and you'll need to remove the wiper arms too. Good times

UUGGGHHH, I am in the same predicament, as my 71 sat under a Pin-Oak for a couple weeks, and has a pile of leaves in there. Guess the wiper motor comes out!

On this sub... I'll be building a removable cover for mine to use when the car is parked. I feel for you guys that have the hardware cloth under the grills. Edited by rsrguy3 - Jul/05/2022 at 2:28pm |
