I have posted about this car in other parts of the forum for other reasons. It's a 72 Javelin SST which originally came with a 304 and presumably a 904 transmission but when I bought it had a 360 and Turbo 400 in it,  probably from a 70s Jeep. The engine is locked up so I'm replacing it with a 360 from an 89 Grand Wagoneer and a 727 transmission from another Javelin.

I need to sort out my driveshaft situation. I suspect the slip yoke that's on there now that fits the Turbo 400 will not work with the 727, is that correct? I've been looking for a complete Javelin driveshaft and yoke, but I'm leaning towards buying a new yoke and getting my current driveshaft rebuilt to work with it. There's a good driveshaft shop here in Knoxville that I've used before.

I found this on eBay, is it a good piece? The price is reasonable.

If not, can anybody point me to a good one to buy?

Thanks!

i seem to remember someone saying that the amc and chrysler transmissions were the same on the inside but different slightly on the outside..   i am sure some one here has that information and the yoke you are looking for..

As far as I know the only difference is the AMC engine bolt pattern on the bellhousing part of the case so it mates up with AMC engines. I think the splined output shaft and the extension housing bushing are the same so any 727 yoke should fit but I just want to be sure before I buy one.

I have a suspicion that a yoke from a bunch of later model Jeeps (Grand Cherokees) or Dodge trucks with 727 derivative transmissions might work. If that's true I can just grab one from the junkyard. Can anyone confirm this?

The transmission is in the shop right now, when I pick it up later this week I will count the splines.

I have an new yoke  (727 for AMC) that my local NAPA found for me many years ago and never used it.  Just let me know if you are interested,

You'll want to decide what size U-joint you want for the 727 yoke. They were and are available in several different sizes.
