I am getting the bodywork done currently and I am fitting the front bumper supports via aligning the bumper, and honestly, it hasn't had one since I owned it. John Cox assisted me years ago in finding one as these are thin little decorative things and don't hold up to any sorts of bumping ironically. Anyway, does the fit look correct? It's as far back as the adjustment allows as far as I can tell. Also, what bolt size holds the bumper brackets to the frame? They seem to not all be the same size. Thanks guys!!

Nice looking Jav!!!

It looks like yours are a bit tighter than mine, but it's close. I'm not sure what the measurements should be, but I don't think I have an option on that anyway, haha. Thanks!!

BTW, do you know the exact type and size of the bolts that connect the bumper support arms to the frame?

I plan on removing my bumper of my 72 tomorrow. I'll take pictures and make note of the bolt size.

Sounds great Ron, I'd like to insure I have the right bolts so they snug up and don't strip the threads.

This is one of the bolts that hold the bumper to the bracket, not the frame.  about 1 inch in length. I hope this is what you wanted . If not I can get the picture of the bolts that go into the frame. I took pictures of the brackets but havent downloaded them yet. The hardest part of this was removing the valance. 3 screws on each side that fasten to the bottom of the fender. close quarters.

Hope this is helping

Dont know why it attached itself upside down. I swear I wasnt standing on my head when I took the picture. I could only see one bracket on each side in your photos. you do have two brackets on each side, right?

Ron,

Yes, I have two brackets just like those, I just don't have the same type bolt used where those arms attach to the frame; so I'd love to know what the exact bot is so I can put the right ones back.

Thanks again!!

I have the correct bumper bolts (just bought a bag of 'em with lock washers and nuts). I need the frame bolt sizes. This IS helping a lot!!

The bumper bracket to frame bolt is a special bolt on the 71-74.  it looks like a lugnut with a stud.
