Well, finally making some progress on my wagon.

Today was a clean up day, have to get it ready to go in for new woodgrain on Tuesday. Started with a quick wash to just get all the dust off of it, then went ahead and removed all.of the remaining old crusty wood. After trying literally everything, 3M adhesive remover and an eraser wheel was the quickest and easiest. Side effect of that was the insane amount of rubber dust EVERYWHERE lol.

After that lovely task was done, I washed the car again. The first wash was probably a complete waste in hindsight but oh well. Used a synthetic clay mat because the paint felt like sandpaper. Then got the DA out and went over the whole car with Meguairs 105, followed by 205. Some small spots I did end up wetsanding, but the compound took care of 95 percent of it.

My 4 year old was more than happy to help, and she had fun. After the compounding, we reattached the trim piece on the rear passenger door that came off (Javelin hood trim clips work) and painted the wheels, they were looking pretty rusty. Then a final coat of wax, and that ended my 10 hour Sunday

Thanks guys! Can't wait to drop it off tomorrow.

Had a little time today so I decided to do a little interior cleaning. Pulled the spare, a nice Sears 215-14 lol. Washed out, then ground down the spare well and primed it, then coated it with some paint. Not concours but it's sealed up, and honestly who's ever going to see it. Better than surface rust anyways. Just glad there were no holes. Looked great inside the quarter drop-offs, so I vacuumed them out and sprayed some fluid film in there, and on the other side as well. Not that the car will ever be exposed to road salt or anything, but hey why not.

Did a vacuum on the interior, and cleaned under the back seat. Pretty clean already, found part of a woman's apron (??) And that was about all. Took the armrests off the front doors and re-glued down the vinyl section to the backing, they were starting to curl up. The drivers door interior handle has a lot of play at the rivet that holds the handle mechanism to the rod linkage part, so I'll have to come up with a replacement there at some point. Also realized I'm missing a handle for the rear passenger door, and a crank know for the rear drivers. I imagine they're shared with other AMC models, so hopefully not too hard to find.

Door panels cleaned up pretty well, polished up the door ash trays, used some q tips and got in the crevices on the doors and dash, and cleaned and dressed the plastic, and the visors. I'll still need to go back and shampoo and extract the carpets, and do some more seat cleaning, but it looks a lot cleaner than it did. It's not perfect and really never will be, for for 52 years old and 102k miles, it's held up remarkably well. Much better than some of the Ford and GM interiors of the same vintage, although, don't yell at me, I do like my seats in my '75 Olds Ninety-Eight Regency better lol.

Oh, and a picture of my other 70s ride.

'75 Olds Ninety-Eight Regency, 455 4bbl. A truly nice Colorado car I've had for a few years now.

We have wood!

Pictures aren't exactly true to color, due to the massive amount of fluorescent lights in the shop, but wow am I happy. I'll get some better pictures when the weather isn't awful.
