I posted in the New Product Announcement section in a thread titled 70AMX led tail lights. but I thought it couldn't hurt to generate a bit more exposure by posting it here as well. I sent an email to digi-tails yesterday. Requesting information about led tail lights for 70 Javelins and AMXs. Here's the response I got. Thank you for your request. We are always designing new products based on customer demand. If you want to speed up the time-to-market for your particular request feel free to tell your friends who want the same product to request it as well. Thanks, If you are interested in getting LED tail lights for your 70 Javelin or AMX please send emails to matt@digi-tails.com Maybe they will begin the process of making tail lights for the 70 Javelin/AMX or if anyone has made led tail lights with the original housings, I'd be interested in how it was done. Just replacing the 1157 bulbs with 1157 led bulbs is not the goal here. Armand

Good luck with that. There's not enough volume for them to invest the time to design them. i have a guys number that will do one offs and he might possibly make a batch if you're willing to buy them. I'll try to find his information. You could just make your own like I did. There's a ton of information out there on how to do it. Here's some pictures of mine for my 73. On mine, the boards are held in by the lens and I wanted to fill up the lens as much as possible. I went with bigger LEDs so less soldering but it still was a lot. That's actually the part a friend did for me. I got all the stuff from Mouser. The boards are predrilled so it keeps everything even and nice looking. The LEDs themselves are lower voltage so there are step down regulators on the little boards to handle. It's been a few years ago (2014) that I did that so I don't remember all the details. It wasn't expensive to do and makes for a nice winter project. I still get a lot of compliments on them by people that have seen them lit up. There's a ring of red LEDs around the reverse lights that are wired for third brake lights only. They also flash 3 times before going solid. I'm trying not to get hit in the rear again.

Thanks. Good news! I found the place that will make one offs so I looked them up and low and behold they make a set for a 68-69 Javelin and AMX. There's a good chance they might be willing to make them for a 70 or even 71-72's. Here's a link https://easyperformance.com/collections/led-sequential-taillight-kits/products/amc-javelin-amx-sequential-led-taillight-kit-68-69
A friend of mine has their lights in hi Firebird and they look nice. Good luck!

I sent an email to Easy Performance requesting they make a kit for 70 Javelin/AMX. I'll let you know how they respond. If anyone else is interested in led tail lights for the 70 Javelin/AMX, let me know or contact Easy Performance directly. Here's a link to their contact page. Thanks Mopar_guy

You're welcome. Since this is the first company I've seen to offer an AMC LED light, hopefully with enough inquiries, they might consider expanding their line. I think their prices are reasonable too. What are the dimensions of the 70 tail light vs the 68-69? I wonder if they could be modified to fit? I'm not familiar with the first gen cars to know the differences.

Mopar_guy, When I looked at the 68/69 kit I thought exactly the same thing, can the existing kit be modified to fit the 70 tail light housings? I'll have to remember to measure the 70 housings this evening. The inner 70 light is more rectangular. The outer light has more roundness to it on the outer side of the light. The 70 has a divider. Below is the 70 housings and lenses. I don't have access to 68/69 housings so if anyone has them available to them it would be great to post up the dimensions. I want to say that the 68/69 lights are not as equally sized as the 70 lights. The 68/69 lights appear that the inner light is smaller than the outer when I look at Easy Performances led kit. The entire 68/69 housing is open end to end also. Below is the 68/69 housings and lenses. Edited by White70JavelinSST - Dec/13/2019 at 11:55am |
