Those hump fender'ed Javelin’s make female caninein’ looking drag cars when they are like that; low with fat tires.

That was a good looking run.

It is hard to pass those cars off as street legal by anything other than the license plate.

The Chevy power plant won it.
The AMX sheet metal was just along for the ride.

LOL, why do we even get into that discussion, there won't be one "Chevy" part in that engine, you can only do so much with an AMC engine even with the Indy block.

Cool…people in the stands say “look at that fast AMC Javelin!”, not, look at that fast BBC!”
Good promo for AMC.

I guess if you use the old adage "win on Sunday and sell on Monday" should have a rush at the AMC dealers tomorrow.LOL

I agree it’s a good promo for the Frankrambler section of this forum - buy that cheap AMC car and take out that crappy factory V8 and install a real engine, in this case, a blown BBC.

Imagine the surprise when someone in the stands says to themselves: hey, I want one of those! And then the reality: you mean it doesn’t come with a Chevy engine? Oh well, there’s a whole section on an AMC fandom website dedicated to engine swaps - obviously, even they realize the limitations, lol.

AMC was was very competitive back in the day in racing - expecting them to still be competitive 36 years after their demise is, of course, unrealistic. However, hopefully one day they’ll achieve true classic car status where you don’t see people effing around with them so much, kinda like you don’t see Packards racing down the 1/4 mile with a blown BBC.

But maybe not, it’s just a Rambler.

Packard with a big block? How about this 1936 Terraplane land speed car with a blown big block.

Keeping things original is not for everybody.
