Putting a motor together for my 70 AMX E/Stocker.

It will have TRW Flattops (7032P). I know there have been problems with 12to1 compression in the past.

I plan to use ARP studs, wondering what is best for head gaskets etc these days?

Car is track only, I have not raced it in 20 years.

Thanks Folks,

Ron.

Head and block surfaces must be clean and flat and finished according to head gasket manufacturer's recommendation.  Cometic MLS gaskets work good.
Addicted to acceleration.

More than 10 to 1 and I'd say don't play around thinking you can get by without o-ringing the block.

Once you have your block o-ringed, now you can rebuild and reuse your copper headgaskets, if need be.

Another bonus is, with copper head gaskets, you get a full range of headgasket thicknesses, to help with fine tuning the engine to work with your specific cam timing (dynamic compression)

Pure copper transmits heat better than steel or composite and this works to create a more even heat retention quality for each combustion chamber -for improved combustion and heat distribution.

SCE makes a full range of premium quality copper head gaskets for '66-'91 AMV8.

O-ringing is not allowed in NHRA Stock Eliminator rules.

Too many race engines with way more than 10:1 compression using only head gaskets.
Addicted to acceleration.

Cometic MLS gaskets will support way more than 10:1.

You’d would likely have no issues using felpros.  As mentioned, if you use cometic gaskets, be sure to have the surfaces finished in the RA Cometic specifies.

I use Cometic MLS in my stocker. I don't have the compression you have but they custom make the thin ones I need.

Cometic is the way to go. Like the others say, correct surface preparation is important. You can get many thicknesses & bore sizes.

Do not get the 6 point ARP studs. You cannot get a socket on them. 12 point is the way to go. You will also have to cut the studs under the exhaust ports.

Really good to see you getting back into it Ron. !!!!
