I picked this one up last summer.  It's a solid survivor.  But it's a little rough.  It has been neglected and poorly maintained over the decades.  So it's taking longer to get it back up and running than I anticipated.

It came from the factory with a 258, T176 4 speed manual transmission, and Dana 300 transfer case.

The wiring harness had several significant issues due to bad maintenance and hacking out the computer control for the original carburetor.  When I was pulling out the cobbled together patch for the tail lights, I found they used a section of garden hose with wires stuffed into it to push it through, rather than just dropping the gas tank to get access.  And then they used household wire nuts to tie it all together.  So I punted and bought a CJ specific harness from Painless Performance to completely replace all the wiring with new.

I abandoned the idea of restoring the original carburetor and emissions equipment that I would need to register it here in Denver.  Instead, I went ahead and bought the Howell TBI kit with the CARB E.O. number so I can have fuel injection that will pass emissions.

I'm working on getting a Warn 8274 winch (from 1977) installed, along with a factory style OEM bumper to get rid of the monstrosity someone welded up.  The bumper weighs almost as much as the winch so I shouldn't see any more front sag than it has in the picture.

In keeping with the retro theme, I found a shaft style Alpine tape deck to install and I've been dusting off all of my old mix tapes from way back when.

I'm doing several other upgrades along the way.  I'm falling into the "as long as I'm in there" trap way too much.  But it should be a fun Jeep to drive around when it's done.
