I am putting 1982 Spirit 6 cylinder with 10.82 inch diameter disc brakes on my 1969 AMX which had power disc brakes. I used the 1982 caliper bracket, spindle, and backing plate. All of these parts fit great. My problem is rotors. I bought rotors from rock auto and now napa. They seem to go on too far as when you tighten the nut on the end of the spindle the rotor rubs against the caliper bracket. Has anyone done this swap? Where did you get rotors that worked?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Please Delete

My swap was 81 Concord to 69 Javelin and other then the wheel spacing going out, no actual problems with the swap.
Did you take the spindles from the 82?
Have done this before and mix/match, needed to install 3/8" spacers between the back of the spindles and the bracket to make everything align. Mind you these were Jeep installations. 7/8" diameter spacers with 7/16" bolt holes and longer Grade 8 bolts.
AMC was in the last stages of car production, so without the TSM or parts cross reference, cannot provide any more information.
It's a great upgrade, good luck!

He noted he used the 82 spindles.
I am a bit baffled too....

Was the race installed in the rotors? What are you using for inner bearings?

I did this swap on my Javelin. The spindles, rotors, and caliper brackets were previously enjoyed, the calipers, pads, flex lines, and bearings were bought new.

I put '77 Gremlin (big bearing) disc brakes on the front of my '72 Javelin.  I did have trouble with the brake pad rubbing against the rotor hub on one side and had to grind the pad backing plate down slightly.  No problems with the caliper itself rubbing.

Yes the race was already installed on the new rotors. When I got the 1982 disc brakes they were complete and still all together just like they were on a 1982 car. The rotors that were on them turned great. They did not rub the caliper bracket or anything. So I put the caliper bracket, spindle and backing plate on my car just like it was on the 1982 car. The only difference is the rotor. I did not keep the old rotors as they were too thin to use but should have kept one to compare to these new ones. Iam using Timken wheel bearings
