Hey everybody. I bought my 74 Javelin earlier this year which has been sitting in the desert on non-op since 1994. There is some wiring under the hood that I can't figure out where it goes and a few relays near the starter relay that I'm not sure what they are for. The hazard lights are stuck on. I'm assuming that the hazard button is on the steering column? I keep pushing and pulling the button below the key and nothing is working.. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Ronnie

First and foremost, you need the wiring diagram for the car. I suggest you get the factory TSM,  which will have said wiring diagram and a host of other useful info.

Not sure what you mean by 'a few relays" near the starter relay (solenoid). The only relay I can think of would be the horn relay. Has a previous owner hacked the wiring? If so, all bets are off. You'll need to figure out what's been added or subtracted.

The hazard light switch may have failed and is permanently ON. Does it push in and stay in, does it pull out and stay out? If it's not doing that, it's definitely bad. Otherwise, you'll need to start tracing the wiring.

The car has been parked for almost 30 years. Could that have been because the PO couldn't figure out the wiring? I would also check for rodent damage. They love to chew wires.

The wiring is all messed up around the starter relay/alternator area. I have the factory TSM and it hasn't been much help as some of the wire colors don't seem to be matching up. Any help would be appreciated.

Basically most of the wiring on the passenger fender well is thrashed. Also there is a transmission switch harness on the back of the engine that is not plugged in. I'm not sure where that goes either. Any underhood pictures would be of great benefit.

Thank you

Your '74 would have had the Seatbelt/Ignition Interlock, with a bypass relay over by the starter solenoid, and a number of wires (5 or 6) connected to that. That's probably what you're seeing in that area which can be confusing.
Here's one note on the system. If you use the "Advanced Search" feature, you can probably find a few pics here. Good luck!

And look up the Ignition/Seatbelt Interlock system in your '74 Technical Service Manual. Things are well-spelled-out there.
