Wha? How can the 68 to 74 Javelins use the 71 to 74 switch. I thought 68 to 70 used a round pull knob thingy not the pull lever type. Let alone all the other cars as well. I think that sheet is messed up in a bad way for 71 to 74 Javelins

Not sure where this list came from but it is wrong.....304 dude is correct, 71-74 headlight switch is very different and unique to Javelin.  It has been obsolete for at least 20 years.....there are NOS around.

I also believe it to be wrong about 1981 as well as 1981 and up the hi/lo circuit is different and in the switch is in the steering column attached to the turn signal lever as apposed to 1980 and earlier where it is a foot switch.

Didn't realize I was posting mis-information.  The list came from rockauto.com.  I know it's the switch I used on my '65 American.  Sorry guys.

Lever type switches were unique to the 71 and up Javelins. If teh switch can be disassembled then it's very likely the contacts can be cleaned.
Brass and copper contacts can be cleaned very quickly and thoroughly by using Bar Keepers Friend powered cleanser. Make up a paste, rub or brush it on the contacts and they'll clean up almost instantly. Rinse with hot water and dry. Don't know what's in that stuff but it sure does a great job on printed circuit board copper traces and contact surfaces.
Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.

Okay, let me explain, wait there is too much, let me sum up.... both headlight switches are good.  I have a TSM, I lacked a magnifying glass,  I now have one.  The main tail/park light problem was the one side of the fuse holder would sometimes hold the fuse, sometimes not. This wasn't clearly visible when laying upside down and the fuse was just loose on one end.  The wire that feeds the panel/dome light switch, from the headlight switch,  was making contact with what remained of the factory fuse holder.  I installed longer wire and another inline fuse. The turn signal flasher was bad and a new one was installed.  I now have tail/park, both high/low headlight, turn signals, four ways, some panel lights and sometimes a dome light.  My only other issue is that most often I do not have a drivers side brake light and when one turn signal is flashing the other side flashes very faintly.  Thanks for the help.

Check the drivers side tail lights, one may be crossed with the other. As one is a dual perpose bulb and the other is single. The bottom of each bulb should match the socket connector. 2 round connection points verses 1 round connection point. The bulbs are not keyed so placement is not restricted in installation.

Check the ground wires if able to follow from the steering column connector to the termination to a ground source. You can ohm the black wires from the connector to a good grounding point on the body or under the dash. The reading should be zero ohms.

Sounds like a number of problems are resolved via replacing defective parts.
This one might very well be the light bulbs are either inserted back wards in the sockets and yes it can happen even though the sockets are designed so that the bulbs won't fit that way or the bulb/socket configuration are worn from age so the bulbs are making poor and/or incorrect contact with in the sockets.
Inspect front park and rear tail/brake lights that things are in good shape and the spring loaded contact points are free to move. If in doubt clean things thoroughly and I have found household white vinegar and a tooth brush a pretty good choice of material to use and verify the bulbs are seated correctly and making good contact, including the ground connection that is made with the body as things go together.
Old is a problem with things of this nature.
