I am searching for an interior door pull handle that will work in my 69 AMX. I have found several possibilities from other cars but need to know the center-to-center mounting distance for the OEM pull handles to get something as close as possible. Dimension "X" as shown in the picture is what I need. |

The screw fastener center distance is about 9-3/16" to 9-1/4". I have a set of handles like the ones shown on the white door available in black, I believe they are 69 to early 70 handles?

Thanks! How do your handles fasten to the door? |

In the '70 doors (but not '69 doors) there are anchor points (2 different styles), one uses metal inserts to capture the screw, the other, IIRC uses nylon screw anchors. If you're adding them to a '69, take your door panel off, and see how feasible it is to get holes in the right place and some kind of good fastener in them! |

1969 models didn’t use pull handles. Just 1970 models of AMX and Javelin. As shown in the two pics, there were two styles, the strap type and the molded style.

Yes, I know. In spite of this, I wanted a door pull to put less stress on the OLD arm rest. dave

Thanks to those who responded. I did buy a pair of the "hard" pull handles (top picture in my original post). I haven't pulled the door panels yet to make the screw anchors yet. Plus, I need to change them from black to gray to match the interior color. |
