Labor rates are different here than in the U.S.  A friend had his 1969 AMX  painted in the U.S., a shop in North East PA. Same time as this car was being done here and he paid 5,000.00 . Once the shop had the car ready for paint they painted it with a color red that they had on hand just to check body work and how the car would look. Once they were satisfied they sent a paint card sprayed matador red over grey primer and over red. They gave a choice of what to do. Some will say it doesn't make any difference, they believe it does.

Once they felt the car was ready for final paint they removed the hood, doors and trunk lid . They put seam sealer on all the outside seams and used a seam tape like on newer cars on the door, hood and trunk lid seams.

Very nice!!! Could you add any information to the discussion on Matador Red paint that is currently going on in the Restoration section of the forum?

The shop mixes their paint. It took them a few tries to get it close. I had a can that was mixed by NAPA and brought with the car from the last time it was painted. They came and picked up the can , it has the data on it and then they were able to get the Matador Red close.
