I'm new to the classic car game and recently bought a 1965 Rambler American 330 and need to change the spark plugs. The ones in now are the Champion H10C short range plugs and I'm wondering if these are the correct ones to use.

Those are correct for the 195.6ci six, and still available.  Whatever brand you use go with simple copper plugs.

H10C is correct for the flathead 195.6 engine, but not the OHV 195.6 engine.

Off the top of my head, I think the OHV 196 uses H12Y, but let me check. (A '65 American could also have come with a 232 engine, which is vastly different.)  So, first figure out what engine you have!
74 Hornet Hatchback X twins (since 1977)
62 American Convertible (still worth the $50 I spent in 1973!) AMCRC #513, AMO #384
70 AMX 360 4-speed (since 1981)

According to the reference book I have (not AM factory), the flat head 196 uses H10, the OHV 196 uses H18Y, and the 232 uses N14Y. These are all Champion numbers

I found my Rambler VIN# and am wondering what engine type it is? I think it is the 3.2L 3206cc 196ci L6

VIN # PI 500214

Ok. Does your engine have spark plugs sticking right out of the top of the motor? (Flathead), or in the passenger side of the motor (Overhead Valve)?

Flathead, it's the last flathead engine made in the US.
