Put an add in the WANTED section. A newer, dual master cylinder for a drum brake car can be made to work. I think one part number is MC36237 |

What is wrong with it? Can it be rebuilt?

Thanks for your reply I actually find a company that do not only rebuild it but they'll actually replate the outside for $195

Nice! Yeah I was thinking if the casting was not cracked it could just be rebuilt with new rubber parts if those are available. If it's pitted it could be sleeved. Rare parts are only getting rarer. It's better if you can fix what you got. Sometimes I just think about how they would fix it down in Cuba

And sometimes that's the "best" way for a driver. If the 62 uses two bolts to mount the MC it's easy to convert to a newer model. If it's the old four bolt type it's a bit harder -- you have to drill two holes for new bolts and remove the four originals. I've seen it done, but not done it myself. You sometimes need to make a custom length pushrod when doing a conversion. That can be tricky -- too long and you lose a lot of pedal travel, too short and not enough (or it pulls out under dash!). I've done that and not had any trouble. I just make it slightly longer than I expect I need, then trim it down a little at a time. PITA to remove/trim/install/test a few times, but better to have good brakes!
