I have a rally (or sport) steering wheel I want to remove, but I need to take the horn button off first. How does this come off without breaking it? I've seen a few with broken tabs on the back and want to avoid this. Before trying to yank it off, I thought I'd ask how it's done correctly.

Depends on model and year... Technical Service Manual always has that answer!

I looked at the interior section of  the TSM and didn't see anything. It's the three spoke wheel that came on many AMCs and Jeeps (71-74 Javelin, Javelin AMX, Gremlin X, etc.). All I need to know is how to take the horn button off.

I have the rally sport wheel in my 72 Gremlin. My horn button is made of rubber and just pulls off.

I'll follow these lines a little ways more,

Until I can find what I'm looking for.

With the pedal to the metal,

I'm gaining my speed.

Riding down low in my AMC.....

Just pull it.
Watch when reinstalling since it's keyed at the 12:00 position.

Just be sure it's warm when you do it.
Even rubber can be brittle when it cold soaked.

I used the wife's hair dryer to warm it until soft, was afraid heat gun would be too hot.
