I just found out about the Herbert Cams recently and wanted to post about them too... I like the smallest one. Has a nice broad rpm range. Starts at 1000-6000. Seems like a good match for the RPM Air Gap intake manifold and a Holley Sniper. 😁

Dur Int-Exh: 280/285
Dur @ .050 Int-Exh: 220/225
Lift 1.5 - 1.5 Int/Exh: 485/500
Lift 1.6 -1.6 Int/Exh:
Lift 1.7 -1.7 Int/Exh:
Lobe Center: 112
Valve Lash: HYD
RPM Range: 1000-6000
Description: Low to mid-range torque and power. Good for daily driver. Good sounding idle

Do they use their own roller lifters or do they use Morel, Gaterman, GS?

Make a fool out of me had no concept of your race car status.

That's a 6000 rpm car? Naw BS
Sign
IMO it should have all internal balanced reciprocating assembly.

In this case ditch idea of hydrualic lifters.

-hydraulic design is for lower maint

Make it spin easy with lighter internal balanced recip assbly parts, not heavier lifters...

Torsional twist & bad vibes on the crank will shorten the life of the engine.

JAVsst

What did you end up doing with the rocker ratio.
I see HS has 1:6:1 but can find any 1:5:1.

Just going with the ca6pj cam Herbert has.

What lifters did you use?
Thanks

I used the 1.6 HS rockers, so I had to size the cam accordingly since Herbert uses the 1.5 ratio, which I believe is a Chevy ratio.  I called their tech support just to confirm the web site was correct and they did say the cam specs are based on 1.5.

I was able to get Crane roller lifters before they went out of business.  They are are back in business, but I don't think they're making AMC Hyd. Rollers.  I had no issues with the lifter bore using Crane.

Not cheap.  I built that engine well over 10 years ago and even then I think they were $600.00  Part number was 86532-16.  Amazon last listed them at $811 and Summit indicates Not Available.

Not sure if they had one of the shelf, but Herbert Cams.

They offer different lobe center profiles, and my machinist recommended I go for 112 degrees
rather than the listed 110 degrees.  He felt that it would offer a little more vacuum to make it more
streetable.

So I ordered one they had one for 1.6 slight difference.

But they recommend the 6076 Morel lifters but those are at .903
Recall someone saying they need more clearance but if not Johnson will be the next safe option

That cam looks tasty for a street turbo 401 at 114 degree lobe angle
