Just got rid of the junk tie rod and drag link with a rough country 3/4-ton link and tie rod.
I also did a flip kit and flipped them both to the top of the knuckles.
The old stuff was some serious junk. I wondered why whenever I hit a pothole, I'd almost end up in the ditch.
Since the tie rod and drag link have moved up from where they were and how tough these look, is a steering stabilizer really necessary...??

I've tried to find a new one and all I am finding is a bunch of more junk that looks like it won't fit anyways.
Like this one.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks.!
William

You absolutely do not need a steering stabilizer on that set up. I thought I needed one on my CJ until it got destroyed in a creek bed and I had to unbolt it on the trail. Had to drive about 30 miles back to camp. Never missed it. That was about 22 years ago.

One thing that you absolutely must do is put a good steering box brace on the bottom of your box. With your dropped Pitman arm, it will destroy the box and literally rip it off of the frame. Good luck!

Thanks..
That's what I was thinking but i wasn't sure. I appreciate the response.
Yes, steering box brace is in the works as we speak.
I have it on order and I'm just waiting for it to show up.
Thanks again.

If it has a shake, add a stabilizer.

The need for a steering stabilizer also depends on how big of a tire you are running, not just the steering geometry. Wink

I've got to get the Jeep put back together before I can and will be able to tell if it has any wobble in the steering. I am not running super swampers or anything like that. Just some normal 31" tall tires on a set of 15" wheels.
I already know that the half worn out rear end is going to be a weak point with the 360. LOL
