The work is being performed in the custom shop with individuals quite knowledgable and experienced. When I visited the shop, prior to my project, they were completing replacement of the 69AMX front suspension. ALL Control Freak components were used in that project, as were in mine.
My metal working skills leave a lot to be desired and that was left to the others. Following completion of the plumbing related systems, pressurization and leak testing, along with the x-pipe installation vehicle will be moved back to the house for the wiring and final body work. Redhorse Performance was the supplier of the AN and hose connectors for this build. |

Due to a need for correct torque converter and flex plate alignment we had to fabricate spacers, which were cut on the CNC machine. Torque converter and flex plate are fully secured, and couple of items have been marked off the list... |

Hurst Shifter adapter plate is installed along with Dakota Digital universal gear shift sending unit, GSS-3000. However, some adjustments had to be made for a correct attachment bracket fit Hurst shift cable and GSS-3000 units are installed and synchronized GSS-3000 will be providing gear position information to the Dakota Digital HDX instrument cluster |

Hurst shifter is installed with final placement installation to be determined following fitting of the seats and console layout. New piece of the A/C line will be replaced tomorrow, must have been close to lunch time! Water line was covered with Magnawrap and routed through fender bulkhead to the cab and into the Vintage Air unit. This completes coolant flow routing. American Racing Headers are installed, hopefully for the last time, and tightened down with Stage 8 Locking Fasteners. Plumbing is completed for the Vintage Air A/C system. Following replacement of the kinked A/C line tomorrow we will be starting leak testing of the heating and cooling system along with the radiator and engine block with numerous couplings and fittings. Hydro boost brake system will be checked out next to be followed by the oil and transmission cooling systems. Engine will be oil primed and next on the list. This will be an interesting week and hopefully we'll even get to the brakes and fuel system. |

Really looking great! I mention something from the "been there done that" category. Since you have spaced the torque converter back, did you also add a spacer to the center locating hub of it? Years back, while putting a different drivetrain in a Rolls Royce, we used a spacer plate between the engine and transmission and added the correct length spacers between the flywheel and torque converter. A few months later, it had wiped out the front seal of the trans. We had to add a welded on spacer to the center hub of the torque converter to keep it located in the back of the crank. no issues after that.
I'm making the assumption that this set-up requires the same type of component locating so I thought I would at least bring it up.

We have over 3/8" of insertion into the crank snout. The engine builder added a spacer on the crank shaft to accommodate the 1" spacer plate.
Hopefully we're avoiding potential issues, and thanks for the "Been There Done That" comment. There are always lessons to be learned and I believe that we'll be experiencing them before this vehicle hits the pavement

Completing header installation on the driver side with Stage 8 locking fasteners. We'll see if they really work.
Eased the header installation with in-house tool fabrication, especially around Dog-Leg header ports. Good last look at the full Independent Rear Suspension since we removed the gas tank in order to check all brake fittings for the leaks. All went well and NO LEAKS! Brake pedal has a solid firm feel following second bleeding. Just wanted to cycle brake fluid through the system and see if there were differences between two bleed processes. This will also give us a chance to bring Fuel Pump and Gas Level Gauge wires into the trunk, in front and to the driver side of the tank, for easy of access in case of having to remove gas tank in the future. Still waiting on couple of missing exhaust pieces, from the collectors feeding into the X-Pipe. When they arrive we'll be able to install V-Bands to simplify exhaust removal, if required, behind the collectors and ahead of the mufflers. O2 sensor will also be installed at that time and emergency brake system will be completed. If any of you have any suggestions as to how to bring out the last part of the exhaust system, out of mufflers and through, around, or under the differential love to hear from you. Might need to go back couple of postings and see how tight the available spacing really is, if the final goal is to end up with exhaust pipes around the gas tank and to the rear and bellow the bumper. One of the unfinished items from the initial wheel and tire installation phase is being reworked presently. The wheel manufacturer is building a new wheel. The center spoke section is finished and is going in for powder application. Should have fourth wheel back next week following mating with the rim. This original wheel suffered shipping damage and failed to balance with the tire due to inside of the rim being out of round. |

On most IRS setups I've seen, they go under the center section with oval pipe, or they might squeeze them between the caliper and the coil over, above the half shaft. If you do that, wrap the pipe to keep the heat off of the caliper. Looking great so far!
