I think this has been covered here before, but what recommendations do you guys have for a good quality battery to use with a battery topper, for a V8 AMC 1968-74?

IIRC correctly: Group 24 Battery. I have a Autolite battery topper for Group 24. A Diehard 24FT-5 should fit nicely. 600 CCA.

Just find one that is flat on top and you should be good.

The battery in my 70 Rebel died a few weeks back. I removed the battery & popped the battery topper off. I saw that I marked the battery with the date when I installed it. Over 15 years out of a battery is pretty good! Advance Auto's cheapest, which they don't sell any longer. Chinese Diehards is all they have now.

Make sure you get a battery with the positive terminal on the left side with the terminals facing you. That should be a 24, a 24F or 24R may have the positive on the right & that won't work with a topper.
"Prolly" is not a word.
