I am new to the AMC/AMX world, having recently purchased a 1968 AMX. I'd like to replace the original seats with a high back seat, will 69-70 seats work? I've searched the forum and haven't, so far, been able to find out. Procar offers an AMX adapter for their seats but lists the item as 69- 71. Are 68 seats mounts unique?. Thanks in advance for any help/ info/ advice!

Yes, any 69/70 factory seat will bolt right in.  The adjustable seats from 69 are the best.  70 seats suck
they call me Capt RETIRED!

I used 1980 Spirit GT seats for years in My 1970. Bolt right in.

I'm doing a similar thing in my '69 AMX. I'm fairly certain that the seats from 68-74 AMX/Javelin are interchangeable. Sounds like other AMC models as well. I have a set of '73 seats I was planning to use but I may go with Procar or Summit seats instead. I'd spend more for just new foam for my seats than the price of a pair of Procar seats.  If I were building a correct car, that would be different of course.

To each their own I guess, but I think the 70 seats are the best of the lot although as I recall they don't recline if that is important to you.

I also own a 68 AMX, and I’m not even sure what car the seats installed in my AMX were from. I promptly replaced them with a set of seats which came out of an early 70s javelin and they bolted right up and get the job done. So unless you want factory correct, a set of seats from 69 or the early 70s will work.

If the 73-4 seats will bolt in more than likely most AMC seats will. My one javelin had late 70's pacer seats bolted to the original frames. Didnt look like the modified anything.

IIRC, the big body seats, like a Rebel, are a few inches wider.  This may not matter, but...
