I will also update this with results from the F.A.S.T. frostbite nationals at US131 Motorsports Park on October 28th. Unbelievable weather and track conditions yielded new personal bests for most cars there. At noon, the density altitude was still -400' !
My 70 AMX ran a new best of 12.60 @ 108. I was paired with a clean original paint 340 Duster (that qualified with a 12.61) for the best of 3 shootout, and managed to win the first 2 by reaction times to take the W. We ran the 3rd round for fun, and I proceeded to shift from 1st straight to 4th gear and watched the 340 drive away lol... At least I now know that the AMX will run 13.34 going from 1st to 4th in good air 😄
Great way to end the season!

We know that the limited induction simply does not support 390+ cubic inch over 5000 rpm, so I tried to maximize torque in the midrange.
I have custom Race Tec pistons to max out the 1.5 extra point compression rule for 11.7:1. I currently have the Lunati 256 cam with 213/220 duration and 112 LSA installed 4 degrees retarded. It idles super smooth and the high port velocity makes killer throttle response and torque. It dyno'd at 369 hp @ 4900, and 450 lb/ft at 3500. I also think the small Summit cam would be a good choice for this combo.
The T10 is a 2.43 ratio, rear axle is currently 3.73. The launch on the stock size Polyglas is tricky and takes a lot of practice. I try and hold 3000 rpm while staging, then slip the clutch and get rolling enough to feel the tires bite before fully releasing the clutch. An auto trans would sure be quicker, but I like the challenge of the T10. Shift at 5000, finish line is 5300-5500.
