I have seen several comments about regriding the 327 V8 cam for a little more pep, but I don't see any numbers of what that regrind or various regrinds might be?

You'll just have to contact a cam company and see what they can do with it. Right now should be a really good time to have one done since all of the cam companies are without cam blanks and don't have much to do until they get more. I think "Rebel 327", maybe not correct user name is probably the best source of information on this topic and he'll probably see the thread. He specializes in the 327 and might even have a cam laying around.

Thanks - going in a '66 Jeep Gladiator.  So looking for good flat torque curve over the rpm range.  Not looking for high HP at high rpms.

I am not sure they are in business any longer. None of their links work and they haven't been on Facebook since August.

You might be better off with the stock cam -- they have a pretty flat torque curve and are good up to around 3500-4000 rpm. AFAIK AMC didn't produce a different cam for Jeep, all the 327 cams are the same. They used a 244 degree duration cam (both intake and exhaust) with 0.375 lift. AMC engineers apparently like 244 degrees -- the 196 six used the same, but with 0.372 intake/0.369 exhaust lift (in 1958... I know the duration was the same on the six through 63, most likely through 65 -- last year).

I had the duration increased to 264 and the lift increased 0.10" on a 196 years ago. Didn't change the idle to 1800 rpm range at all (according to the "butt dyno"), but it really woke up a bit at 1900-2000 rpm (about 45 mph). It now had speed holding and acceleration power in the 45-60 rpm range where it had little before. Made it a great cruiser! I had this in a little 63 American with a modified suspension for handling. I just didn't get below 45 mph unless I had to, even on back twisty roads! Could easily take a curve marked 35 at 45 safely on dry pavement. I wasn't stupid, would slow it down under wet conditions! I was running a 3.31 axle with three speed auto, and the hopped up 196 (cam with factory 2V).

That change would probably do the same for the 327, since the stock cam is similar. Might not be what you want with the Jeep if it's a towing/rock crawling rig. If it's predominantly a street vehicle it should be great though. You always have low range to kick the rpm up into the power band if crawling though, or pulling a load up a steep incline until it level off and you can stop to put it in low range. Had to do that a few times when towing with my five speed 4.0L Comanche. 3.08 gears weren't enough to pull a car trailer with a 65 Classic V-8 up a rather steep drive out onto the road even in first. Used low range to get up and out on road, stopped and used high range from then on.

Also, what carb are you running? It will work better with a 500 cfm or so carb rather than the more common 600. The stock Holley used in the early 60s was about 450 cfm. It ran out of steam about 3500-4000 rpm, but great torque and throttle response idle until then! If low to mid rpm pulling is what you want the smaller carb will be better.

I have gotten this grind from an AMC guy that has messed with the 327 cams:  206/212 @ .050", 250/260 advance, .431"/.443 lifter, 110 separation.  Interestingly, this is somewhat similar to:

Comp Cams 4x4 grind for the SBC - 206/210@ .050", .458 lift on both, 111 separation.

AMC GenII V8 Edelbrock Performer Cam: 204/214 @ .050, .472IN/.458 Ex, 110 separation.

I don't think the stock springs will allow for the very high lift but the one recommended to me looks pretty good.

Looking to probably use either Edelbrock 500 CFM Carb or possibly Holley Sniper EFI
