Alrighty I have a 1968 Javelin 290 SST Automatic. Just replaced ignition coil, fuel tank sending unit, new battery, and distributer cap is basically new. The car will turn over fine but not start. I tried to many times after getting a new battery and killed it. I had to get a battery charger. It's looking like we are not getting anything to spark. Gas is making it up to the engine, it's new clean gas. Topped off oil as well. There was some electrical work done to this car before it went to sit for 6 years. I heard there were some problems with break and blinker lights being switched. I belive all the gages have been replaced. Any suggestions, thoughts.

Getting spark at the spark plug? Is the rotor turning when you crank the engine?

I don't belive the engine is getting sparks. And I'm not sure why. It's a new electric distributer if that means anything. Yes it is rotating.

Your going to have to find out what distributor/ignition system you have before anyone can help. If you find a number on the distributor, most aftermarket suppliers have wiring diagrams online.
You should also have the 68 TSM to ensure that the aftermarket distributor/ignition is connected to the car correctly. There are just too many variables with many aftermarket systems and so many things that get butchered over the years that sometimes you have to go back quite far to get things connected correctly.

More questions than answers: Was it running before you replaced the coil? Why did you replace the coil? Did you correctly connect the wires to the coil? What distributor are you running? How did you determine it doesn't seem to be getting spark? Here's what I would do: - Go back to the old coil and see what happens. - Check the center contact on the distributor cap. I had an aftermarket distributor that the center contact in the cap would break off if I wasn't very careful when removing and replacing the cap. - Still no go: - Get help (someone to turn the key while you test for voltage) to check the power to the coil in both the "run" and "start" ignition key positions. Still no go, I believe the TSM has a trouble shooting guide.

The car was running before it was parked and sat for 6 years. The coil was replaced because it was not getting a reading. The wires to the coil are correctly placed. Pertronix Ignitor III Distributor AMC V8I belive the center contact on the cap is not there. Would it protrude from the rotor To spark the distributer cap?
