Hello fellow forum members,
I originally decided not to open another 70 AMX restoration project string, but then I quickly realized that I could not do this project on my own. Even with all the forum searches and the reading I do, there is just too many question. Relying on your years of knowledge and experience seems like a better idea. I just received my Sonic Silver 70 AMX 360 4spd (Sept 69 build) back from my restoration guy. He completed all the metalwork and paint. As I start to put things back together I’m already having issues. As I figured, I need some advice from anyone that has been here, done that. First a few pic's (Before) [/IMG] (After) [/IMG] [/IMG] First question, I bought the fire wall insulation and as I put it in place it looks let it doesn't match up. If I align the right side heater fan opening, the left side is off. Seems to me if I cut it in half both side will align and I'll only have to fill in a small space in the middle. The insulation is through APD by R.E.M. Also, what's the best way to attach 77 spray? |

I prefer the 3M spray 90, I find it stands up better. I lined up the heater box side and just slightly modified the drivers side.

Sounds good. I'll tackle that tonight if I can get a good feel for placement. I guess the most important side to get right is the heater fan side for alignment.
Thanks guys, appreciate the help. |

If you're enjoying the firewall pad this much, wait until you start doing the carpet! lol

I'm working with American Car Carpet on sending my front carpet as a sample. The part that kills me is nothing fit like advertised. Then you have to start figuring how and what will the bad fitment will cause you later. Frustrating.

The dolly has worked great but it might be mostly cuz there's no real weight. I saw the summit one but the cost had me go with wood. Had the wood already from leftovers so the wheels were the costly part. I used some steel rods that I milled to size to go into the 4 corners of the body frame. We loaded it on a trailer, rolled it around the paint shop and brought it back on that frame for the last 5 years. I'll post a pic if it helps.

How long are you keeping the tape on the fresh paint? I would be worried about damaging the finish with the glue or leaving residue that needs to be polished off.
