Thanks everyone for all the great comments. I bought my repo Door VIN Sticker from Amark.
Mark has very nice quality items and he is great to work with. He sells direct and not through the normal AMC vendors so he may not be a favorate of our AMC venders but he is a great asset to our hobby.
Good luck with your projects.

Nice car. You should have had the seller throw in the beautiful air conditioned camping trailer in the background, too. It would look cool in plum color.

Kirk, Great post... Always great to see another SC/360 in the works. I started on mine a few years ago but it seems that every time I get to working on it, life has thrown me a curve ball and I've had to change priorities. I am hoping to have mine completed and to drive it to the next show in Kenosha. Good luck on your project and keep the pix and posts coming....

Hi,
I know what you mean. I have been working on our club car for about ten weeks now. Wow time flys'. I am almost done with it and it will be going to its new home. Our club project car is a 1975 Hornet Sportabout and Gary Zinman has purchased it at our last club meeting Saturday night. I did a bunch of work to it Sunday and had four club members show up to help. This has been a great club project.
The 70 AMX will be next and then I will move on to the SC360.
Too many project and too little time but they are like kids, once you have them it is hard to imagine life without them.
Bye,
Kirk

Kirk,
Great post! I'm glad you spent the time to put such good photos and captions together. It's the well presented information (like you provided) that keeps me coming back to the forums for information and entertainment. But, you're killing me with the tires and wheels: First I thought how great those Machine wheels looked. Then the mini lights (I like the upsized version even more) that looked so good...and now Magnum 500s. I'm going to have a hard time figuring out which ones I like the best!
Keep us posted on the progress...and if you don't mind...I always like to hear a little about prices paid for things like paint, or media blasting, wheel restoration, that sort of thing. It helps me figure out what i have instore for my own car.
Steve

Hi Steve, It is hard to choose one set of wheels so why not have many to choose from. I have 3 AMC's so I will be able to move them around for differnt looks. To give you an idea about pricing for things here in Phoenix, AZ. The SC360 cost me about $6,000 for the car with most all the hard to find parts. The plain wheels and tires had to go back to the guy I bought the car from but the car came with the original Magnum 500's. The Mini-lites I bought off of e-bay a couple of years ago for about $660. Not bad for NOS in the original boxes with freight to my house. About $600 for the B.F. Goodrich Radial TA's, 2 at 225R60 14's and 2 at 245R60 14's. The Body and Paint work was $6350 with about another $500 for sheet metal. The media blasting was about $750 for all areas of the car that were not DA sanded since the car still had it's original paint. I don't know how much I have spend on e-bay buying trim items and engine pieces but it adds up quickly. The front and rear seats were $800 to have them redone in the correct materials. I will most likely be into the car about $18,000 to $20,000 with out adding my labor.
We do these cars for other reasons than logic and return on investment. If the wife doesn't understand its because it is a guy thing.
See you all in St. Louis this weekend!

Thanks Kirk,
that paint and body work seems very reasonably priced. I've noticed that on a couple of ocassions that AZ seems more affordable than CA.
For a car that is being done right I think your budget estimate seems awesome. Plenty have done far less with far more :)

I'd have been very happy to put out over $8000 I paid to have my car painted if the guy actually had done a good job. I ended up repainting the entire car myself with just over $600 in paint supplies. I had already completed the bodywork before it went to the painter. Your SC/360 came out great. I've always wanted one since I had my non SC 71 Hornet that I switched to a V-8. My car was black but never made it past the primer stage. Even though mine was a Michigan car, it was supriseingly mostly rust free. Can't wait to see yours finished.

Hi guys,
I spent the weekend cleaning up the garage, the sheds and the back covered deck so I can start working on the 70 BBG AMX again. These are all areas that I have car parts stashed for the projects that I am working on. It has been since April that I worked on the AMX because I have been working on our Hornet Sportabout club car. It is now waiting on a new rebuilt carb to come off of back order so I started going through my SC360 parts. I had several SC360 painted items that I needed to get wrapped up and stored and I figured that I would just take the time to get the mirrors together and installed. Here are the pictures.
![]() The template that came with the kit. Mirror is mounted in the same place as the drivers door.
![]() Same instructions that came in my NOS kit for my AMX RT side mirror.
![]() Pretty easy stuff.
![]() I cut the shaded area off and compared the temple to the drivers door. Holes lined up perfectly.
![]() I lined up the top and drilled through the temple. I did not center punch, I didn't want any dents.
![]() Both sides are now installed. Both mirrors were NOS so the Chrome bases look great.
![]() This is a remote mirror so I will have to add the hole to the door panel when the interior is put back together sometime in the distant future.
![]() Slight artistic ability on my part. Hay! its only 113 degree in Phoenix while I am working on the south side of the garage. Time to go in side and hit the computer anyway.
![]() This is the box for the Right side, can't find the box for the drivers side. I might have left it at the body shop when I picked up some of the painted parts. Oh well!
