Nope, it is on a hold pattern for the next several months. My wife wants me to get her 67 Rogue Convertible running first. The 290 2V Auto is coming out tomorrow and once the engine compartment is painted than a 343 4V 4 spd is going to be installed. Once it is drivable than I can start back up on the SC 360. The BBG w/Shadow 390 4spd is now done. I am doing the final detail before the AMCRC show in Henderson, NV next weekend. Thanks for asking. Edited by 17tamx - Oct/30/2010 at 8:45pm |

Kirk, I just wanted to let you know that I talked with another owner of an SC/360 tonight. He took my suggestion about using the pop out window seals from a late model hatch back Hornet or Concord to make the window seals for the SC/360. He told me that they worked like a charm. He also stated that they were the same style seal, exact material.

Wild Plum looks great on the SC/360 and your wife too. I see your wife and car are color coordinated. Whose idea was that? LOL Great looking Hornet SC.

WOW that thing looks sweet! I love that purple color, I guess its a factory amc color? I wonder how may non sporty amcs got that color? Would be funny to see an ambassador for example in the purple! Only thing I would change would be the stripe, I do not think/know if it would be correct, but IMO a Gold stripe would be just the ticket on a ride like that!

Kirk, Did you have the seats done in the correct style, correct material? If so, do you have any pix of the seats? Where did you have them done? I need to have the set from my brilliant green Hornet done but I want them stitched up correctly. I talked to Legendary about repoping covers and they said they are not interested in doing them but I could buy the correct vinyl from them. I am just trying to figure out my options.
Funny, the black seats in my mustard Hornet are nice and I actually have NOS covers for them. The green seats in my green Hornet are shot and I only have one option with them... Get them recovered..

My wife Terry had been dressed several hours before I told her I was going to the body shop to check out the progress on the car.
The production of the 71 SC/360 Hornet ended in February of 1971 and the D9 Wild Plum was released as a new color for 71 models in March of 71. My car was built in October in the Mustard color but no one in my family except me liked the color. Since I was going to change the color I wanted to stick to a AMC factory color for 71 but I liked the idea of the Wild Plum since it was never done by the factory. The 71 SC/360 strips were only available in 3 colors, Black, White and Red. Since the Hood Scoop is done in Black I thought it would look best with matching Black strips. I have already had the seat redone here in town by an older retired guy that use to have his own uphostery shop. He was not able to duplicate the moulded in heat line in the upper panels of the front buckets so he duplicated the look with double wide stiching. I don't think I have any pictures of the seats at this time. I have them bagged up and in storage at this time. |
