Anyone here that can make the sender in my 73 Gremlin work?
Know someone who can?

I know how to fix them but my schedule is booked solid for the next month at least. After that if I am still living where I am now you could ship it to me and I'd repair it for a reasonable price.

American parts depot has some now (I’m quite sure they’re reproductions)
135$ minus the sock.

I’ll send you my nonfunctional one to get fixed after I get the new one...so I’ll have a spare

Any sending unit I have removed, I don't believe there was enough of it left to rebuild.

The windings are usually so well worn.......... not much to fix, in the ones I've removed as well.
I save them all, though, figuring "one of these days, I'll rebuild these, too"

Gelal, Before you buy the reproduction, you may want to read this: http://theamcforum.com/forum/warning-ebay-sending-units-are-junk_topic92568.html

I suspect they all come from the same manufacturer, regardless of who sells them or what model they fit.

I pulled the wire resistor board on mine, was not that worn at all. They can be flipped if you can remove it properly.

The biggest issue is the sock, cleaning the resistor board, ground wire, and rust. I could make mine into a donar if the major sections are badly rusted.

All aftermarket ones need reformed to allow proper float level and pickup, in some way to match the original.

I would have offered to assist in bringing yours back to operation, but my multimeter took a dive on me recently. Ordered a new one, but I only know 71 to 74 Javelin style, so there is nothing I have to compare a new one to properly adjust to for your small body sending unit.

71 Javelin SST body
390 69 crank, 70 block & heads
NASCAR SB2 rods & pistons
78 Jeep TH400 w/ 2.76 Low
50/50 Ford-AMC Suspension
79 F150 rear & 8.8 axles
Ford Racing 3.25 gears & 9" /w Detroit locker
