Does anyone know if these 14 x 6 repro steel wheels from Wheel Vintiques will fit a '69 Javelin? They have a 4 inch backspace and I thought that I read stock was 3.5 inch. Are there any center bore issues with disc or drums? The specs say these are 3.125 center bore diameter. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-62-461204/overview/
Thanks. Edited by celcius232 - Jul/06/2019 at 7:50pm |

Not sure, but there have to be some original stock ones out there for sale. Heck, I have a great set of four, but I'm way out on the East Coast.

If you're buying repro wheels, I'd really suggest 15". There isn't much of a tire selection left in 14", even 15" are getting sparse. I'm running Wheel Vintiques 15x7 Magnums with 4.25 backspace on my 69 AMX and they fit fine. I'm running a 235/60-15 tire on all 4 corners. I'm sure a 14x6 with 4" BS would fit. Bob tufcj

I'm running Wheel Vintiques 14 x 6 Magnum 500's and 205/70R14 Radial t/a's on my 67 Rogue. IIRC the backspace is 3.75" and they are a little snug at the trunnion, maybe about 1/4" clearance. Mine is drum brake, not sure if disc cars would have more room. Four inch backspace could get a little tight maybe.

Not much left for original AMC wheels in the yards around me. If someone has a set of original non rusty (5) 14 x 6 wheels for a 1969 I might be interested.
This car is being restored to near stock, so I wanted to stay with orignal looking wheels. Does anyone know the backspacing on the original stock steel 14 x 6 wheels on a 69? Thanks for the replies. |

If they're the same as the later 14x6 8-slot wheels, then 3.75 BS. My original 14x5.5 wheels are also 3.75. I have about 1/4" of clearance max from the front disc brakes and coil spring mount.
