I am getting into my BSO Jav project after completing the body work on the 70 Jav.   Looking at different rust sealer/preventers and hoping to get comments from those who have used the products. They all say theirs is the best!!! Looking at Rust Bullet, POR 15 and Master Coat. Any opinions? Thanks - JJ

For sealing/priming what ?
Clean rust free steel, or slightly rusted steel ?

I've used both Rust Bullet, and POR15, on rusted steel, used both as per directions and had no problems with either , really could tell no difference.  So no opinion there.

If you're dealing with rust free steel,  neither is going to be better than a quality epoxy primer .

What he ^^^^ said. On interior work I use nothing but SEM products. I have also used a product called Rust Mort to neutralize rust affected surfaces.

I have never used these guys but I've talked to a couple who have and they were very pleased with them.

Remove the old paint using chemical strippers (abrasives remove too much metal), do not get the chemical stripper into places you cannot get it out, then remove the rust using chemical rust treatments such as PHIX. Lightly sand with 320/400 grit abrasive paper.
Clean with acetone. Epoxy primer. I did this with a ram air hood and deck lid several (over 7) years ago. No trouble so far anywhere.
