Anyone in NH that has a 327 to part with I am interested.
I don't care if it has a hole in the block.
I am looking for a motor with reasonably good heads
to reverse engineer the intake flanges and dummy up
adapters to a late Gen 3 intake.

It's a Holley though :D

So if I go 4 barrel, should I go 600 or 650 CFM?

I suggest a Eddelbrock / Carter AFB 500 or 600.

Any reason for those over Holley? I was hoping to stick to the stock looking carb to be honest.

FWIW - we have the stock 4 bbl Holley in both the wagon and the Marlin. I haven't had another carb (except the 2 bbl Holley) on mine, so I can't speak to the difference, but I have no complaints.

600 cfm will be fine in either edelbrock/carter or holley vac secondarys. Take your pick, I would prefer the holley but that is because they are easier to get parts for where I live. For now I would be looking for a 2bbl that will bolt to your manifold that will not give you too many headaches.

Vac secondaries and electric choke?

Do they all pretty much use the same mounting system?

I'm rebuilding the current holley that is on there on Tuesday, then going to pull that off next season.

Hey guys, I have this carb on my 327... Looking into it, it now seems that it's not the right carb and was for a 287. The numbers are: R 3218 A. Any thoughts? Is this carb even worth rebuilding or should I just upgrade?
Please consult your Technical Service Manual for your car.  This appears to be a Holly 2209 carb that was stock on many 287 and 327 engines.  Converting to a 4-bbl intake also requires changing the transmission linkage.  Failure to do this correctly will hurt the trans.  If you have a stock 287 that has not been rebuilt---a 4-bbl is a waste of time and money.  You can rebuild the carb or switch to a more modern (1970-80's) 2-bbl carb supplied on other AMC cars.  As posted may times, the rebuild kits for the 2209 carbs have an acceleration pump component that will not stand up to todays fuels.  More "modern" kits help eliminate this issue.  Good Luck.

Mine's still not here yet, working out an ebay case in regards to that TSM.

My car came stock with the Holley 4BBL, but was later changed out.

Can you tell me more on this transmission linkage?  How can I tell if it's incorrect or correct and where am I able to get the proper 2BBL or 4BBL linkage?

I have the 327, the 2BBL was taken from a 287 it looks.  I have ordered the rebuild and currently run the car on 91 octane with no ethanol, so it should be okay in terms of fuels.

You car could NOT have come stock with a Holley 4 barrel if you now have a 2 barrel on it. The manifolds are different. Are you saying some previous owner swapped the carburetor AND the manifold? How would you know that?
